Z Fish Report (11/17/16)

Offshore (average) surface water temperature - Includes from the 5-6 mile mark at the 100 fathom line, on out to about 50 miles with the 1,000 fathom line being at 32 miles:

Inshore (average) surface temperature. From the beach to about 5 miles: 84°

Blue water: The inshore is a bit discolored, but there are some cleaner areas. Then from the 100 fathom line, and out to 16 miles, the water is clean, with a bit of discoloration. The blue water is out 16 miles and beyond.  (Chlorophyll amounts and surface temps from Terrafin SST)

Offshore- The same as the last several weeks, it has been very slow fishing offshore for all species. A blue marlin was taken this week, so maybe things will pick up if the bait is moving back into the area. Once this week’s full moon period is over, I am assuming this will be true.

A few large dorado were taken, and this action should improve over the next couple of weeks.

Full Moon barracuda action: The action was not as good as I expected, but the size of the fish are quality. Mike and Sherry Knauff of Kamloops, Canada fished one evening with Noe on the Porpy. The action was on the slow side but the two huge fish they got were about 12 and 22 pounds. They ended up with a bunch of fillets of the excellent eating fish.  

Inshore: As the previous weeks, the roosterfish and jack crevalle are still providing the best action. It is not great action, but steady. And, you have to work for it. A few sierra are now showing.

Kyler Ries fly fished with Mark Denison down at Puerto Vicente Guerrero for a day. The condition were right, and the fish were there, but the bait was so abundant, the couple of fish taken were just stuffed with small sardines.
